Garbage & Waste Removal

Table of Contents

Nearly every home and business in Seattle has a weekly or bi-weekly waste pickup. Trash management services have strict pickup or load limitations. For households, the load limit is up to three trash cans or eight bags. Commercial waste is limited to one dumpster weekly or bi-weekly. While this seems like a lot of waste, it does not support special events and renovation projects. The solution in these cases is our one-time waste pickup and disposal services.

How Is Price Determined For One-Time Household Waste Pickup?

The factors that determine the price of our garbage removal are load size, property location, and type of rubbish. We recommend all interested Seattle consumers take advantage of our free estimate. The simple process requires a visit to the home to assess the load of waste. A certified technician collects data which is later utilized to determine the actual cost of the removal. Before the technician exits the home, a written quote is provided to the customer.

A written waste removal quote includes the labor cost, disposal fees (if applicable), load details, and removal requirements, such as special loading equipment.

Municipal, City, & County Waste Collection FAQs

Some cities and municipalities operate household and business waste pickup services. City waste pickup is generally affordable and oftentimes included in a utility bill. However, each municipal and city rubbish collection services have unique operational and payment processes.

  • Each customer is given a scheduled pickup day when they enroll in the service
  • Waste is collected Monday through Friday. Most waste management companies assign a collection day for every neighborhood within the service area
  • Trash cans must be moved to the curbside the night before the collection day (anytime is fine as long as the trash is at the curbside before the garbage truck arrives)
  • Place household waste in plastic bags
  • Garbage can lids should be sealed to keep out wild and stray animals
  • Customers are responsible for moving their trash cans back to the original storage location
  • Extra bags and garbage cans may pose additional collection fees (the fees are added onto the next billing date)

Household Waste Recycling

Nearly all waste management companies offer free or paid recycling bins. Customers can opt-in to the additional service for free or for a small monthly fee. There are only a few trash collection services that reward their customers for recycling. Rewards are generally in the form of a gift card from a local business.

  • Recycling waste must be kept separate from non-recyclable household waste
  • Recyclable trash is often limited to a medium-sized container
  • Customers are encouraged to keep the company’s acceptable recyclable list near waste bins

Hazardous Waste Collection

  • Most trash pickup services accept hazardous waste when bagged properly
  • Insulin syringes should be stored in a biohazard container (not all household waste services accept biohazard containers)

Our waste removal does not include lithium-ion, lead-acid, sulfuric acid, or cadmium batteries. Consumers are encouraged to send lithium-ion computer, cell phone, laptop, and tablet batteries to the manufacturer. There are special services that dispose of rechargeable batteries for free.

Consumers are required by law to pay a core fee for lead-acid automotive and ATV batteries. To get the core fee back, consumers must return their old lead-acid batteries to the retailer. The average battery core charge is $10. However, in some states, consumers pay as much as $20.

Missed Household Garbage Pickup

It happens, consumers forget to move their trash cans to the curb for the next-day pickup. It is very unfortunate but all household waste collection services operate on a strict schedule. In most cases, consumers are forced to hold onto their trash until the next scheduled collection date. Consumers can wait anywhere between three and seven days for their trash to be picked up.

Missed waste pickups do not need to be a hassle or headache. With our one-time rubbish removal, the problem can be eliminated within a few hours. We offer same-day garbage pickup for household waste.

How To Decrease Waste Per Household?

Each Seattle resident generates about six pounds of trash each day. Considering about 2 pounds of the waste is recyclable, four pounds end up in the landfill. Waste in landfills generates harmful methane emissions. According to one study, landfill rubbish accounts for 11 percent of all methane emissions generated globally.
